After a tough season opener loss to St. Paul last Friday, the girls varsity basketball team bounced back to beat Monroeville at their home opener, 51-44.
The tigers had a balanced scoring attack, lead by freshman Ella Lamb with 11 points, Senior Olivia Lagando and freshman Rae Roldan each with 9, Junior Madison Belden with 8, freshman Ava Winnestaffer with 7, sophomore Lauren Sugalski with 6, and senior Taylor Gies with 1.
On the boards, Lagando and Lamb lead the team with 10 rebounds apiece, followed by 9 from Belden, and 5 each from Winnestaffer and Roldan. Lagando and Winnestaffer each recorded 5 steals. Winnestaffer also lead the team with 3 assists while Roldan had 2. Lagando and Belden each had 2 blocks.
The Lady Tigers travel to Oak Harbor this Saturday to face a loaded Rockets team. JV start at 1 with varsity to follow at 2:30.
