The Huron girls volleyball team, ranked #3 in the state in division III, beat the 13th ranked team, Ashland Crestview, 25-17, 23-25, 25-18, and 25-16, to win the District Championship.
Senior Olivia Lagando led the team with 22 kills, followed by 17 from senior Ally Gresh, 13 from sophomore McKenna Schafer, 5 from senior Kamryn Lobsinger, and 3 from senior Katie Springer.
Sophomore setter, Georgi Moody, had 50 assists out of 112 attempts.
Defensively, Springer had 16 digs, Moody 13, senior Anna Martello 11, Lagando and junior Indira Stefano 7 each, Senior Julia Hastings 6, and Lobsinger 5.
At the net Lagando had 4 blocks, Moody 3, Gresh, Springer and Lobsinger 1 each.
With the win the Tigers advance to Regionals and will face the #2 ranked team, and undefeated at 26-0, Liberty Benton (Findlay), this Thursday (Nov. 1st) at approximately 7:30 PM (second match) at Lake High School in Millbury (Toledo).
Advanced tickets can be purchased at the high school office for $6, while all tickets at the door are $8. Huron receives a percentage of the advance ticket sales.
